"Ang Mahiwagang Baul" unravels the magical world of Philippine folklore. In the old days, Filipino children were delighted in hearing and reading about Philippine myths and legends that have been intrinsically woven into the country's rich culture. Enjoyed even by adults, these folktales brimmed with moral values that subliminally inculcated an unwavering national pride among Filipinos.

Todays generation of Filipino children, however, have lost touch with the richness of Philippine folk literature due to the tremendous popularity of digital forms of entertainment and the proliferation of Western influences on television. In an effort to rekindle the Filipino children's interest in the richness of the Filipino folklore, GMA network brings you "Ang Mahiwagang Baul". A new weekly fantasy program that aims to impart good values, propagate better appreciation of the country's cultural heritage, and inculcate national pride among Filipino viewers. Ang Mahiwagang Baul will bring viewers into a magical journey of discovery as each episode unveils the mythical stories behind the existence of certain creatures, plants and places.

Ang Mahiwagang Baul stars young artists like Eisen Bayubay and Sandy Talag who play siblings Epoy (Bayubay) and Jewel (Talag). The two children are brought by their mother Lourdes (Sharmaine Centenera) to their Lola Tacia's (Carmen Sanchez) house. Their adventure starts when Jewel discovers a glowing trunks in Lola Tacia's attic, and this unravels a secret world of fantasy and magic where the young siblings will experience and learn about a variety of myths and legends. Then world inside the magical trunk is a realm without boundaries, and this is where Epoy's toy robot Rextor (John Feir) comes to life and becomes a trusty company to the children in their mythical adventures.
